I remember rushing home from school to get on the computer before my sister so I could log into AIM. I had an away message that was a Dashboard Confessional lyric and I thought I was SO deep.
ThePalace.com - I spent a good portion of my teen years on this chat site. It was the next step up from AOL chat rooms. You could create Avatars and it eve had it's own script so you could animate your Avatars. I made friends there.bhad solid relationships. Fell in love. Then one day, I just stopped. Realized that the screen was a wall I would never be able to breach and went on to do those same things IRL. I miss that world sometimes.
My memory fhpzi: I spent hours customizing my profile back in the day, what a time. 4255
The anxiety of who to put in your MySpace Top 8 was real. Moving someone down from position 2 to position 4 was the early 2000s equivalent of unfollowing someone on Instagram. Full social warfare.
Does anyone remember Habbo Hotel? I used to live on that webpage.
This Site is goood find
I would have had a lot more computer privileges if Joe Cartoon wasn't putting cartoon gerbils in a microwave.
Spent an entire summer trying to get enough Neopoints to buy a paint brush for my Lupe. I never got it. My mom finally made me go outside. Worth it though, those were the best days.
Downloaded what I thought was a Linkin Park song on LimeWire. It was 45 minutes of someone whispering my name. Turned the volume up to hear it better. Still scared.
I had a Geocities page about my favorite band with a visitor counter, a guestbook, and a MIDI file that played automatically. I spent weeks getting the tiled background just right. It was terrible and I loved every pixel of it.
